On The #RauchdyMatch 2.0 – Part 1

Boys,

Sometimes I write to you guys, and sometimes I use this to post about the happenings of what is going on in my life because, well, I figure it would be interesting to get a snippet of who I am or who your mom is at this point in our lives, too.

Last year, your mom and I played in “The Match.” I documented it in a post last year, but there was enough interest and support from those around us that we decided it was something we wanted to do again. So I’m going to do this in a couple of parts to lay the groundwork for this year’s edition.

First of all, the recap: you can read the full breakdown in last year’s post. Basically, the game was a 9 hole stroke play golf match against your mom. We’d both play from the blue tees and whoever shot the lowest score won. For added context, at that time I was a 13 handicap and your mom was about a 7 — which is about what she is now. If you don’t know what that means, it’s basically a calculation of your ability and predictive score based on a course’s difficulty rating.

As of today, about a month out from us playing again, your mom is a 7.0 handicap and I have lowered mine to a 7.1. Basically, we’re about the same if we were to play from our standard distances. Because your mom is moving back to my longer tees, her expected score would likely be higher.

OK – going to establish the vibe of last years match and continue to lay the foundation for this year’s match in my next post — lets just say things are getting bigger and better this time around. Until then….

Love you boys.

Dad
